Discord is getting more popular day by day, no wonders. It is amazing, it is free, it is easy to use and what not? Gamers are having an easy time using discord and many people share their wonderful experiences of it though some complaints are also registered.

Bugs are involved, microphones not working and most of them leading to Discord not updating. So here we are, helping you out on how to update discord and get rid of all that’s bothering you. Without wasting much time, let’s move forward.

Though Discord updates itself but sometimes it does not. You would get a screen of Updating Discord as soon as you open Discord. You wait for some time and it is still there. Nothing is working out.

Your Discord is not updating itself right? Well, that is why you are here. Before moving on with screwdrivers and hammers, let’s try something easy that sometimes works –

Method 1 – Running as administrator.

Step 1 – Right click on Discord and click ‘Run as administrator’.

Step 2 – It will ask for permission to make changes to your computer. Click on yes.

The update should complete with this.

It didn’t work? It’s Sad. Let’s get on with something else.

Method 2 – Re-installing Discord.

Now, for this you don’t have to uninstall the previous discord. You just have to reinstall it. This is how you do it –

Step 1 – Go to Discord site and install the Discord installer.

Step 2 – Double click on it and follow all the instructions.

This should work and fix the issues. In case it does not, we have the last resort of clean Discord.

Method 3Clean Discord

This involves uninstalling the current Discord and deleting its files and then reinstalling it.

Step 1 – Quit the running discord. Right click on the Discord icon in the task manager and click Quit Discord.

Step 2 – Click the windows and R key together. You will get a Run window.

Step 3 – In the Open bar, type appwiz.cpl. Press Enter.

Step 4 – From the list of installed applications, find Discord and click uninstall.

Step 5 – Again open the run window now that you know how to.

Step 6 – Enter %appdata%.

Step 7 – Find the Discord folder and delete it.

Step 8 – Go back a screen by pressing backspace. Open the Local folder. Find Discord and delete it too.

Step 9 – Now install the Discord installer and reinstall Discord.

This is bound to work. You get your updated Discord now. Thank us later!
